OWS — Obvious Willful Stupidity or Rebels Without a Clue? The “Occupy Wall Street” movement is being put forth as some kind of organic, serious protest over greed in the US and world financial sectors and capitalism in general. Somehow, between a sympathetic MSM and Progressive politicians who find a distracting simpatico with the tent, bongo drum and need-a-bath set, we are led to believe that this is a BIG movement, encompassing many millions of participants. But I’m loathe to count up more than several thousand die hard participants at any of the “events.” One thing is for sure — given that there is no cohesive aim or ambition, and the fact that many of the participants are willing to go on the record with inchoate ramblings — this is a put up rebellion. But put up by whom? And why? And why now? I believe those questions will become clear as time goes on because getting paid to camp out in an ever-increasing-in-filth outdoor venue soon becomes tiresome, and the continued prospect pales in comparison to the fold away bed in mom/dad’s living room. Besides, these fractious neo-hippies are unlikely to garner much support or sympathy from the average working Joe or Jane who has to actually work for a living to, in part, support the right of these selfish nutbars to continue to protest.

Solyndra. I think that the House has finally hit a nerve in the Obama administration with their investigation of the Solyndra scandal. There is something fishy afoot with the incredible sums of money involved in what increasingly appears this green-for-votes/political support scheme. That Solyndra was so very close to bankruptcy/insolvency, teetering on the edge as it were, and the administration saw fit to bankroll this outfit for over half a billion dollars of taxpayer’s money is both troubling and suspicious. I’m convinced that Solyndra represents the pinnacle of crony capitalism that is the hallmark of the corruption of the self-proclaimed “transparent” Obama administration and presidency. We’re being played for fools, and with their rejection of the House subpoena, Obama and his Corruptocrat cronies are thumbing their noses at the law and at us.

GOP Presidential Candidates. I’m presently underwhelmed by the current crop of GOP presidential candidates. Don’t get me wrong, for a staunch Republican and rock-ribbed conservative, there are some jewels in the rough. Like Herman Cain, Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich. Only Mr. Cain has gained any traction among the purported “conservative” candidates. But Newt has seen somewhat of a resurgence, climbing to 3rd place in most of the national polls, after Cain and Romney. And by the way, Mitt Romney needs us more than we need him. It may be “his turn” to be the GOP standard-bearer, but as a nation we don’t need the medicine that he’s offering. I firmly believe that he’s a go-along-to-get-along candidate, who will unfailingly support the tax-and-spend infrastructure…while making ceremonial and for show only cuts here and there. Of all the candidates, Santorum and Gingrich speak for constitutionalists and conservatives. Through past actions as legislators and through their words while on the stump, they have unflaggingly preached the need to tip the status quo on its head — even though it is to their detriment. I sure hope one of these two prevails in the tough slog ahead, but I’m not holding my breath. Now, don’t get me wrong. I really like Herman Cain and I think he’s a smart, experienced and articulate man. If he is the GOP candidate after the primary winnowing process, I will enthusiastically vote for him! What I don’t like is his 9-9-9 plan…

Herman Cain’s 9-9-9 Plan. There is so much that troubles me about Herman Cain;s 9-9-9 plan. But my primary objection is that by simply offering this plan, Mr. Cain unwittingly cedes the status quo to the tax-and-spend Progressives who have, for over a century now, conditioned Americans to being unwilling ATM machines for profligate political agendas and programs. See, since the turn of the last century we have become inured to being taxed in an extra-constitutional manner through legislative trickery and political duplicity. And although there is a marginal return on our investment in infrastructure and national security, the majority of our money is used as a votes-for-goodies slush fund by craven, self-serving pols. We don’t need GOP candidates offering up “plans”, like Mr. Cain’s 9-9-9 plan, to help support this profligacy. We need GOP candidates who are willing to play the iconoclast, and propose that before we do anything else, we will cut the federal budget by an ACTUAL 50% — including entitlements. We are taxing and spending our way into oblivion and obscurity as a nation. Restructuring how the government gets its financial fix is akin to debating, just after it struck the iceberg,  whether the Titanic will sink in 5 or 6 minutes. In the end, it doesn’t matter! It’s gonna sink anyway!! A tax and spend “plan” by any presidential candidate, least of all a GOP candidate, puts a willful or worse unwitting fig leaf on the root core problem. And if gives false hope that things will really change with a new administration. We need a candidate and a presidency willing to cut up the roots of the insidious government and make tough but necessary changes to the modus operandi of that government. Any plan that does not include this is really no plan at all.

We live in a nation where the electorate and the administration are apparently stuck on stupid. New statistics regarding poverty and median income have been made available today. These numbers are astounding: According to CNNmoney.com, “The nation’s poverty rate rose to 15.1% in 2010, its highest level since 1993. About 46.2 million people are considered in need.” And other data released by the Census Bureau indicated that the median household income fell by more than 2.3 percent.

How’s that Hope and Change working out for you 33 months into the experiment?

Our current president has spent more money in these 33 months than all other US presidents combined…and certainly many times more than any other national leader on Earth in our recorded human history. And the result is greater poverty and lower income? Not unpredictably, the president and the Democrats want to spend MORE. They want to once again play Robin Hood to the callous “rich” and spread more wealth around. They want to increase the government’s size from tyrannical to ubiquitous.

What I’d like to know is: How much do we have to spend before the poor can raise themselves out of poverty and America becomes the Socialist Utopia that is the ultimate dream of the Progressive Democrats? I’ll give you the short answer — there is no answer! One cannot change human nature with handouts and social programs. Even Jesus said that there will always be poor among us [Matthew 26:11.] As God, He certainly knew and understood human nature and the human condition better than any of we mere mortals. So what makes the Democrats and liberal Progressives think that they can cure mankind’s ills with an endless string of handouts, programs and wealth redistribution?

The short answer is that they are using sin as a motivator — they understand that social programs cannot cure poverty or change the behaviors of those who simply don’t want to help themselves. The Democrats have raised covetousness to a high art…they utilize the greed and avarice of people to achieve their political goals. This explains why they constantly use the “rich” and their trappings to spur on the funding of the very programs that get them elected in the first place. Not only are these programs and entitlements sinful at their core, they are also a political conflict of interest. The Democrats know that desperate people will trade anything — and in particular their precious vote — to improve their lot in life. After all, casting a vote for the right (or should I say “left”) candidate is far easier than sweating at a day’s work for many people.

But I think that there are far more people that would like to set things straight once and for all. They want to break the chains of bondage to an ever-increasing-in-size-and-power government, and do something for themselves using their own blood, sweat and tears…and initiative, pluck and exceptionalism to improve their lot in life and create true, self-generated wealth for themselves and their posterity. I think that many people can see how the grotesque spending agenda of the Democrat Progressives simply isn’t working. Money cannot buy happiness. Money changes everything.

President Obama and his Socialist/Progressive cohort are either insane or rigid tacticians of their ideology. They might be insane, as the classic definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and over and expecting different results each time they are done. Well, 33 months of ungodly government profligacy hasn’t improved things — the statistics cited previously prove this in spades. In fact,  with all the dire news coming to us on a daily basis, we can see that massive government expansion and spending are killing our national spirit…and depressing our economy.

So, Obama and the Democrats are obviously rigid doctrinaire Progressives who place more trust in their political theory and agenda than they do in common sense and real world results. To me, they’re stuck on stupid. They are also quite wealthy in the wages of sin. They use mankind’s inherent darker side and lesser angels to keep themselves in political power. They may not have to face judgement here on Earth from humans in possession of a naturally flawed nature, but they surely will have to meet their Maker some day and face his wrath.

And their excuses will ring hollow in His ears and in His ultimate judgement of them. They will have some ‘splaining to do — and their alibi that they were only acting in our best interests will put them on an express elevator down to Hell.

Good riddance.

The present social morass that we labor within is just an extension of the wages of sin. Our culture has become so self-possessed and self-obsessed, seemingly without linkage or fear of an Almighty law giver, that it is beyond troubling. In our society, God has been shown the door without remorse.

Our American “culture” makes Sodom and Gomorrah look like Sesame Street. It’s all about *ME*, right here, right now — 24/7. Instant gratification and self-aggrandizement are the not-so-hidden agenda watchwords in our ever-decaying society.

Women have become hyper-sexualized “ho’s”…with little girls, for God’s sake, being made into proto-bimboes with the provocative clothing and adult-like behaviors that their imbecilic mommies make them don or ape. Little boys are castrated by the over-feminization of our society…them being reduced to ADHD alphabet-soup zombies by the adult pity partiers. Kids spend further zombie time on cell phones texting “friends” while wholesale ignoring those physically elbow-to-elbow with them. Instead of just being kids, they fear the world and are ignorant of it because they don’t properly experience it as curious beings. Helicopter parents have turned ostensibly normal kids into hyper-’schedulized’ mini-CEO’s. Play dates and dance classes have replaced mud pie making and puddle jumping. Kids are being forced to mature at an accelerated rate so mommy and/or daddy can live vicariously through them.

Call in the councilors!

But if we must criticize this new-age aberrant behavior, we mustn’t muss up a single feeling, except(of course)  for those of the folks who decry the debauchery and the decrepitude. The critical folks are mercilessly ostracized and (almost) subject to hate crimes prosecution for their moribund clinging to traditional values…whatever *they* are any more.

But history teaches us that we are not a good indicator of our own failings. Future generations of Earth-dwellers (I’m not so sure there will be Americans in the not-too-distant future) will look upon our contemporary generations and question our sanity and our souls. They will look at us like the fools greedily embracing the bread and circuses provided to them during another fall of a once great past empire.

These historians and scholars will clearly see what we simply cannot: That we’ve embraced covetousness, greed, sloth, avarice, hubris, sloth, lust, vainglory, gluttony and several other sins that don’t have a precise name or definition. Take a particular fiscal, social or government issue and tease it to it’s root cause and you will find an unnatural embrace of sin at it’s rotting core. But we’ve cloaked this sinful behavior in a good intentions wrapper. So, when a politician espouses soaking the rich, they’re not guilty of covetousness. Nope. They’re fighting for the poor or the middle class.

Poppycock! Let’s call a spade a spade.

This example of class warfare incitement is simply a pol using man’s lesser angels (covetousness) to feather their political nest at the expense of others. See for yourself how many other social and political issues have a similar foundation. It is truly shocking. And I am convinced that when we play along, we anger God in ways that we never dreamed.

The wholesale “separation of Church and State” and the eschewing of traditional moral values and virtues in our modern society has worked out swimmingly for us, eh?

Despite the outward appearances to the contrary, the Democrats, Progressives and Liberals (DPLs) are gripped with fear. A glance at the state of our country, society and economy will give you a pretty good impression why.

The big government, nanny state vision of America as espoused by DPLs is imploding right before our eyes. Imploding big time! The mountainous deficits, the ever-increasing joblessness and small societal things like the increasing-in-number violent flash mobs are all the direct result of DPL ideology and government programs. Profligate social spending (regardless of the cries that we spend too much on defense), suffocating government regulations and a pervasive entitlement attitude are at the core of those economic, business and criminal problems.

The DPL folks in Congress know this…they can read the writing, or should I say graffiti, on the wall. Many of the hard-core DPL ideologues are twisting and contorting themselves into logical pretzels in order to explain away or ignore the obvious — that big government, wealth redistribution, welfare state policy and programs have failed spectacularly.

If creating a per-person debt that cannot be paid-off in one’s lifetime was the goal of the New Deal and Great Society…as well as all the other government goody give-away programs, then the DPLs can claim success and plant the flag of victory on Mount Debt. But I think most folks who are concerned, patriotic Americans (at least those concerned about their children’s futures) see things differently. They see racking up more and more and more debt as a crippling legacy that our generation will pass on to the next and the next and the next. Trillions and trillions of dollars spent to, for the most part, insure that scheming, craven politicians enjoyed a life-long lock on their political position. And to provide an elite few with power, both economic and political, that was never intended by the Framers.

But what was done was done without our (the citizen’s) permission and with generous interpretations of the Constitution in favor of almost unlimited congressional power. And although it has been one heck of a ride so far for the DPL folks, and has spawned numerous long-lived political careers (Ted Kennedy, Robert Byrd immediately come to mind), it seems that lately the excess and profligacy of the DPL are catching up to them. Our economy and the nation’s fiscal situation are unraveling right before our eyes…debt is mounting and individuals are finally recognizing the trouble that has been caused by those who purportedly preached good times for oh so long.

The Tea Party and many conservative Republicans, Paul Ryan and Michelle Bachmann to name but two, are now leading the charge to reduce government spending as well as to reduce the size of government. We have come to the point where our government taxation and spending simply cannot be supported by our tenuous GDP. So, we can either cut those programs that are supposed to benefit us all, like the military, or we can cut the military in favor of preserving vote-grabbing social benefits and programs. Doing the latter is so short-sighted as to be ridiculous — and really not a viable option at all in a world where jihadists run free and the Chinese are hurriedly modernizing their military. Therefore, we must reduce social programs and either eliminate them immediately or reform them and then phase them out gradually. Many people recognize this need, and they are increasingly clamoring for such actions to occur.

Which brings us to prominent DPLer’s…up to and including President Barack Obama, and the likes of Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee. In recent weeks, both these Democrats have made excoriating statements regarding the Tea Party and those in the political opposition who would reduce the size of government.

You can almost smell the fear! As his favorability ratings are shrinking virtually every day, Mr. Obama is desperately searching for some way of reversing that trend. If you don’t believe me, just visit Rasmussen Reports for the bad news delivered on a daily basis. Despite his trying REAL hard, his economic agenda…punctuated by oppressive regulations and a “tax the rich” divisive mantra, is not currying favor with voters who see through this attempt at class warfare. So we have attacks on conservatives and the Tea Party by Obama and his DPL surrogates, like Ms. Jackson Lee.

So, be on the lookout for more of the same. Watch for the gratuitous attacks on “tea baggers” and on GOP presidential candidates — particularly those who deign to speak out about the Ponzi schemes that are Social Security and Medicare. It’s sort of gratifying to watch…the squirming, the fear mongering, the insults and, there’s no other way to put it, the lies.

Honestly, you can almost smell the fear…

Shovels??

Yup…Shovels!

It’s time that the Congress authorizes the purchase of millions of shovels in order to put the legion idle goody-getters to work. If someone is going to receive an “entitlement” from the US government, then they must be expected to expend some energy for the privilege. Shovels, and the hard work that they would assist doing, would be the national tonic that we would need to break so many citizens from their no-fault government-individual co-dependency. Our nation cannot remain a viable international entity for much longer by the continued fostering idleness and the cultivation of class warfare, sloth, envy and greed without a shred of return for our collective investment. When our purported “representatives” in Washington begin to consider deep cuts in the defense budget (which by the way is a constitutional mandate) over making common-sense and fair changes to the welfare state that our nation has become, then there is something totally wrong with the ethos and moral fiber of our country. It is prime evidence that we have completely abandoned the Founder’s vision and the Constitution.

I was always told from an early age that there are no free lunches. Well, forgive me from Heaven mom and dad…but YES there are! Tens of millions upon tens of millions of checks come from the US treasury on a monthly basis to fund such free lunches. Generations of folks have earned their sole livelihoods from the public dole. And they have given NOTHING back in return, except more and more and more consumption — either by remaining on the system for their entire lives, or perpetuating the practice by having more children, than they could afford if they were indeed working, on our dime and creating further inter-generational dependence.

It’s high time that our representatives started to trade in the currency of common sense and hard work. Those of us with jobs are yoked in the system…we pay our taxes and we live our lives under a certain level of government tyranny. But we’re too busy working for a living to complain much. But I assure each and every one of the five hundred thirty-something elected morons in Washington that we are not amused any more. When trillions are being thrown around like millions, our ire is rightfully stirred.

Just like us, the Congress and this profligate president need to rein in the spending…lessen the debt and live with our means as a nation. They need to start to “encourage” hard work, personal responsibility and self-sufficiency for ALL Americans…not just from taxpayers. They need to create MORE taxpayers…by drastically cutting back the mandated charity that disguises itself as Welfare, WIC and other social entitlements.  They need to emphasize that there are no more free lunches.

Only until they cherish and respect the sheer amount of hard work and blood, sweat and tears that the tax revenues that are spent on a daily basis represents can we working American expect a fair shake. Perhaps then these political cowards might summons up the courage to make significant and permanent changes to the modus operandi of our government.

For me, it all begins with a humble shovel…

It appears as though in the run up to the 2012 election that the GOP candidates for president are going to be actually challenging two incumbents. First there will be the actual incumbent, the ineffectual and inept Barack H. Obama and second there will be the state run media, the so-called mainstream media, who are rabid supporters of the incumbent and a dedicated group of so-called “journalists” who would say or do anything to get this man re-elected.

Examples are always necessary, so I offer you two examples of the utter propaganda being offered by the MSM as “news” items, but are not quite so cleverly disguised liberal/Progressive party line drivel:

Leading Democrat says GOP tax argument flawed

Major teachers union endorses Obama’s re-election

The first story describes the attack on the GOP by Obama’s premiere pit bull Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC). Clyburn is a liberal’s liberal…and a sure Obama supporter regardless of the president’s competence — both men are black Democrats. Clyburn’s statements regarding the debt ceiling disagreement in the House are intended to place the GOP in a bad light, and thus Obama’s position in a good light, by making the GOP the bad guys in the fray. Clyburn is using the reliable liberal tactic of attempting to make the Dems the guardians of “everyman” and the GOP the patsies of “the rich.” See, Clyburn’s comments make the GOP seem implacably retrenched in their position on no new taxes because they refuse to consider closing tax loopholes in the existing tax code. But if a tax loophole is closed, doesn’t the individual who previously exploited the loophole pay more in taxes — ergo undergoing a tax increase?

It certainly does! But Clyburn is trying to associate tax loopholes, legal tax avoidance, with “fat cats” and millionaires. It doesn’t matter that such loopholes may be exploited by anyone who pays taxes. but such facts are trivial in the political gainsay that may be achieved by engaging in the sinful class warfare that is the hallmark of the Democrat party. Clyburn is the the latest bomb thrower on the right — aided and abetted by the AP, the Progressive’s trusty media lapdog.

The second story should surprise nobody. Does anyone with an IQ greater than 15 think that the teacher’s unions anywhere would endorse or support a Republican for any elective office? Certainly not, given the more-than-cozy historical, and almost symbiotic, relationship between the Democrats and the unions.

But the ringing endorsement as described in the story reveals the selfish motivations of the NEA and other teacher’s unions. The unions will support Obama, who has been an abject failure as president. Our country is in historic jeopardy as a viable nation under this man’s “leadership.” We have 9.1% unemployment, multi-trillion dollar deficits and debt and a crisis in our culture where an almost majority of Americans believe in an entitlement nation or outright depend upon the government for their living. But these problems matter little because Obama and the NEA have the same education “visions.” I postulate that this vision includes a favored, protected and special interest status for the NEA and other unions by the administration. Just look at the way that Obama used his “Present” response to pressing national issues regarding the recent union brouhaha in Wisconsin. All the Democrat senators in Wisconsin leave the state for parts unknown thus paralyzing the state’s legislature, and Obama has no comment?

Sure, Obama would have stepped in it if he had the courage to comment on this legislative treachery because he would be betraying or sabotaging his cozy relationship with the unions. Unions are a major fundraising artery for the Democrats, and with his track record so far, Obama is going to need an abundance of money if he is going to get re-elected. The unions, particularly teacher’s unions, are his useful idiots.

And by penning the second story, so are the AP.

With such blind support of the liberal/progressive ideology and candidates, the mainstream/lamestream media is going to do everything they can to place GOP candidates in a negative light and in a scrutiny crucible. These candidates will need to stiffen their spines and summon every ounce of virtue and honor that they can in order to do honorable political battle with Obama and his insane media posse. Because everything that Obama has said and done, and will say and do will be massaged and propagandized by a complicit media. And each and every one of us needs to rebuff the shameful bias of this media, and make sure that the hypocrisy is documented and publicized.

This is our country, and the upcoming elections are ours as well. Not theirs.

Sometimes, just sometimes, a picture is worth a thousand words. I came across once such example in my most recent internet meanderings. I’d like to share it with you:

It really does kinda say it all about our Fearless Leader and his failed agenda. Let’s all pray and work hard for a better, alternative outcome in the election of 2012. Our nation cannot endure much more of the insanity, nonsense and cancerous ideology that are the hallmarks of the Obama presidency.

The self-aggrandizement of one man is not more important than the fate of our nation.

July 4th, 1776 was an auspicious day in the history of our nation. It was the day the nascent American Congress declared their displeasure with the suffocating rule of the British crown and their desire for independence from British rule. It marked the beginning of a long and painful process that ultimately led to our formation as a sovereign nation — a nation that cherishes the God-given rights, liberties and freedoms of freeborn men and women.

But July 4th, 2011 marks a date unlike no other in American history. This Independence Day, or more rightly termed In Dependence Day, in 2011 finds the United States and its citizens at a critical crossroads and we are faced with a grave choice of how we are going to proceed in the future as a nation. And this choice…as well as the paths to be taken couldn’t be clearer or more contrasting in their actions and consequences. Do we embrace the present profligacy and the political, moral and social degeneration that we have encountered and endured since the 1960′s or do we reject the ever increasing spending and every onerous assault on our rights and liberties through an almost institutional, constitutional perversion?

Regardless of how it seems, it is OUR choice…that of the American citizens, and not that of our elected “representatives” and “leaders.” The current crop of liberal/Progressive equivalent of political snake oil salesmen to hold office only have sway over us, and are able to roll out their destructive ideology, if WE let them. And we let them do this if we cast our precious votes for them and become their enablers. Sure, it’s tempting and seductive to vote for someone who promises you this or that, and wraps those promises in “entitlements” and other “free” government-provided goodies. But it should eventually occur to even the most selfish and greedy among us that a free ride can only last so long before the money runs out and the game is over. July 4, 2011 is just as good a date as any to signify that realization and that end date.

If it were up to me, I would declare this July 4th as a date of personal introspection and as a day where each citizen is asked to reinvigorate their commitment to constitutional principles of government. We need such bold actions if we are to exist for much longer as a prosperous, viable nation. But unfortunately, such actions are only my dream given the rigid, destructive ideology of those, from top to bottom, who control the levers of power in our government.

I can, however, use the words of a young and vigorous 20th-century president, John F. Kennedy, a Democrat mind you, whose time in office came and went far too quickly because of an assassin’s bullet, to implore my co-inhabitants of this land to strive to change our present national circumstance:

And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country.

My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.

Finally, whether you are citizens of America or citizens of the world, ask of us the same high standards of strength and sacrifice which we ask of you. With a good conscience our only sure reward, with history the final judge of our deeds, let us go forth to lead the land we love, asking His blessing and His help, but knowing that here on earth God’s work must truly be our own.

We have either consciously decided to turn our backs on the thrift, honor and virtue that was the hallmark and strength of our Founders, or we have decided, as freeborn men and women, to loot the largess and capital of our good nation in order to satisfy purely selfish motivations. And our actions, and inactions as well, have led us to this place of spiritual, moral and financial turpitude this July 4th holiday.

Is it too late for us to be saved as a nation? That question is unanswerable without the concerted effort of the majority of the American people. It can only occur if we break the bonds that bind us to the government…and demand that that government shrinks in power and size from its present state of being. It can only occur if we change our expectations to from within to from without. It can only change if we return to an embrace of and strict fealty to the Constitution. It can only change if we as individual Americans want it to change.

Human nature being what it is makes our challenge difficult, and perhaps impossible. Our experience tells us that the lesser angels of man’s nature are very powerful indeed. But mankind has encountered, endured and successfully fought off far worse scourges than those presently afflicting our nation. It took willpower, intense sacrifice and great upheaval to do so, but time and time again these lesser angels were indeed vanquished or sufficiently beaten back. The only things separating modern-day Americans from undertaking this challenge are the strength of character and the force of will to do them. Otherwise, we will succumb to the present malaise in virtue, morals and values and break, like no other American generation in history has broken, our inter-generational trust with our children and heirs. Will we be the first generation in American history that will leave our children and heirs poorer and more in debt than our forebears left us?

So let us take up President Kennedy’s challenge this July 4th and beyond — one that rejects a harmful individual-government co-dependency in favor of a return to self-reliance and citizen-centric government. And that means a government for ALL citizens, and not just for special interests and certain favored groups. We need to reject the sinful pull of profligacy, of ever-expanding government and of individual-government co-dependency. We need to go home once and for all, back to the Constitution and all that it, in it’s original form, means to each of us.

Really, it’s no big deal, after all the only thing riding on our success is the future viability and existence of our nation.

America has an education crisis. Scores in math and the sciences are at almost all-time lows. When you converse with the random person on the street…or exchange an e-mail with a stranger, you find that English and grammar skills are dreadful in most cases. But the worst crisis in education is in regards to the average citizen’s understanding of the Constitution and how the document relates to them. And obviously this constitutional ignorance extends from top-to-bottom and left-to-right in our society and in our political universe.

There are two premiere examples of this ignorance, willful or otherwise, that appear in today’s top news stories. The first involves an absolutely ignorant statement by an absolutely ignorant liberal bloviator, Sen. Richard (Dick) Durbin (D-IL). From Real Clear Politics — Durbin: Illegal Alien Could Be Our Future President. According to Sen. Durbin:

“When I look around this room, I see America’s future. Our doctors, our teachers, our nurses, our engineers, our scientists, our soldiers, our Congressman, our Senators and maybe our President.” [emphasis added]

Uh, no Sen. Durbin…you pinhead! What is truly frightening is this ridiculous statement comes from an experienced legislator who we would expect to be well-versed in constitutional law…since I think we should expect our legislators to enact laws that are in strict conformance with the Constitution. But maybe that’s just me and my foolish expectations!?!

Well, Sen. Durbin…just for you…today’s edition of Constitution 101, or as we like to put it here at The Sky’s The Limit, The Constitution for Complete Imbeciles:

Article II, Section 1: The President
No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

I suppose that a person who was a strong supporter of Obamacare and it’s patently unconstitutional individual mandate requirement might have some trouble understanding the words contained in AII, S1. The good people of Illinois have the remedy to this problem, and I hope that they choose to remove this useless man from office at their first opportunity. But I fear that they see usefulness in his Liberal/Progressive ideology and his goody-getting for the state of Illinois — and this outweighs the man’s utter inanity.

Consider, please, if this statement were made by Sarah Palin or Michelle Bachmann, the MSM would be all over them like fleas on a bloodhound. But because Durbin is an outspoken “critic” of the GOP, he get’s yet another Mulligan…a hall pass.

All the previous constitutional ignorance leads me to my second example of utter constitutional ignorance — the recent decision by a three judge panel from the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to declare Obamacare is constitutional. A two judge majority declared that Congress indeed has the authority to require American citizens to purchase health insurance under the Commerce Clause in the Constitution.

Okay, let’s go once again to The Constitution for Complete Imbeciles for the august judges who cogitated this decision:

Article I, Section 8: Powers of Congress
…To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes…

Now, Congress has the actual constitutional authority to regulate Commerce among the several States — as in interstate Comerce, but I fail to see where they have the authority to regulate Commerce among individuals and private businesses (of which health insurance companies are a subset.) The good judges, and apparently most of our misguided Congress — at least those on the Progressive/Liberal side of the political aisle — mistake the Congress’ power to regulate interstate commerce with absolute power over dictating the behaviors of the citizens of the US.

Fellow citizens, we are on the precipice of a dark abyss. For the past century or so we citizens have ceded our Constitution and it’s care and feeding to the political elites. We have collectively forgotten that the Constitution belongs to each and every one of us. The Congress, supported by complicit courts or the SCOTUS, cannot push the proverbial “Easy Button” and conjure up work-arounds and abridgements for their actual, codified constitutional powers and authorities.

The actions of Durbin and the majority of that three justice panel on the 6th US Circuit Court makes me think that to them, the political elites, giving Congress new constitutional powers is no big deal. It indicates to me that they are in the end stages of wresting the control of the Constitution from us to them.

With all their unconstitutional claptrap and actions, apparently in the minds of the elites and the single-minded Progressives, the US would be a GREAT place if it weren’t for those pesky, empowered, freeborn citizens. Their plans for complete control of the country would certainly be a lot smoother without us.

It’s Anthropogenic Global Warming! Until it isn’t…or maybe it’s the scourge of Climate Change. Uh, nope. Or, perhaps it’s just the weather being the unpredictable weather. Hey, I think we’re onto something! An interesting tidbit from the cyclone and hurricane observers at Florida State University (Dr. Ryan Maue): Recent historically low global tropical cyclone activity. Maybe it’s just me, but I thought that all manner of bad things, meteorologically-speaking, were going to befall us due to AGW and our continued use of all things CO2-producing. Who would have guessed that  the DIRE predictions of super-strong hurricanes and cyclones that made Katrina look like a kitten in comparison would be dashed…at least they’ve been if we’re to believe the good Dr. Maue. Oh well, maybe these things are caused by, now take a seat you climate scaremongers, THE VAGARIES OF THE RANDOM WEATHER!!! I dunno…seems like a theory to me.

Tipping Point? There are incidents which occur that leave you scratching your head and make you think “What were they thinking?” There are other incidents that occur that make you think that we as a nation have reached a tipping point, and that perhaps the scale is weighted such that we are at a point of no return. Behold, a tipping point: Elderly woman asked to remove adult diaper during TSA search. Where has all logic and sanity gone in our government when an incident such as this may occur? It is abundantly clear that the TSA is no longer concerned just about our “safety,” whatever the hell that may be. No, I’m afraid that their intentions are more sinister at heart: They are gaining control over us! Now, I assume that we’re all still freeborn American men and women with certain inalienable rights: like those pesky attributes life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness spelled out in the Declaration of Independence and codified in the Constitution. For example, situations like what happened with the ailing, 105 pound, wheelchair-bound, 95 year old woman in her “encounter” with the TSA are most handsomely covered in the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution:

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Read that passage very carefully and tell me that what the TSA is presently doing in the name of “safety” has any constitutional basis whatsoever. I’ll cut immediately to the chase for you — it doesn’t. This unfortunate lady was subjected to an unreasonable search of her person, without the benefit of a court order and furthermore was humiliated in her having to remove a very personal hygiene product at the order of a TSA “official.” Benjamin Franklin was right when he opined so many years ago:

“Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

His words ring true…as an ominous warning, even today.

Liberalism/Progressivism Has Failed. OKAY, it’s high time to start stating the obvious: that the precepts, agendas and programs that constitute the ideology called liberalism/Progressivism have failed. Spectacularly. Since the nascent probings of Progressivism by Teddy Roosevelt to the full-bore adoption of Progressive/socialist programs by Franklin Roosevelt, the US has suffered a great harm regardless of the “good” that all the hard-earned money spent on this ideology is alleged to have done. Regardless of the party line and the hype, we have come to the end. We are BROKE! There is no way to tax and spend our way out of the fiscal, social and moral abyss that we have backed ourselves into. For Americans, the FAILED ideology of liberalism/Progressivism isn’t the answer. It is the illness. The only way out of the present mess we find ourselves in is to re-adopt the prudent, frugal and austere precepts that are found in the Constitution. We must abandon our profligate and sinful ways and become the perfected society, based on constitutional and free-market principles, that we should be. I think that many Americans are waking from their profligate stupor; and they are realizing that the math that the Progressives espouse just doesn’t add up. There are no free rides, and you can’t get something for nothing (or almost nothing.) That taxing the “rich” only gives you the wages of sin (sloth, greed and envy) and that “helping” the poor with perpetual government alms and “charity” only breeds contempt and idleness from the “beneficiaries.” it’s time to shout the failure of this cancerous, unproductive ideology from the rooftops! “Liberalism/Progressivism is DEAD! Long live freedom and capitalism!!!”

Nothing New Under the Political Sun. It is indeed the silly season. Since the beginning of the 2012 presidential campaign we have seen the Dems/Progs/Libs ramp up their rhetoric and redouble their ad hominem attacks on the GOP candidates. One need to look no further than Michelle Bachmann for this political and media fold and spin job. Rep. Bachmann is truly a woman of substance. She has numerous scholastic, personal, business and political achievements to her credit. But unlike the Marxist Barack Obama, she is hated by the media and reviled by her political opponents for her strong conservative beliefs. See, regardless of the cries for more “civility” in the political discourse after the tragic shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, Rep. Bachmann has been the recipient of some odious “scrutiny” for alleged gaffes and misstatements. In a recent interview on FOX News Sunday, host Chris Wallace asked her if she was “a flake?” Rep. Bachmann is definitely not a flake…and such a question is both demeaning and insulting, regardless of Wallace’s intent. If the “flake” question by Wallace can be considered friendly fire, Ms. Bachmann had better steel herself for a fusillade of invective and insults that are now being dreamed up by the “civilized” left — from both media and politicians. Because the one thing we can count on is that there is NOTHING new under the political sun, particularly where desperate Democrats are concerned.
